UUCT BOARD OF TRUSTEES PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE; AUGUST 2024

Hello Members and Friends:

As those of you with young people in your life (personally or professionally) know, it's Back-to-School time.
We are so grateful to Debbie Carden, Bobby Freeman, and everyone else who planned and attended our Back-to-School bash last week.  We are hoping this will be another UUCT annual tradition.

Back-to-School at UA (and Shelton, and Stillman) could well bring more visitors to our doors.  Our congregation's friendliness and openness to new folks (without being smothering or intimidating)_is the reason we've had a record number of new members (certainly percentage-wise, if not in numbers) sign our membership book over the last year.   And our Greeters,  literally the first glimpse of our congregation that our visitors get, are a MAJOR  major part of that effort.  Keep doing what you are doing, and we will keep growing!

Because many of us (including Mother Nature) can't quite let go of Summer yet, Ana Schuber has planned an end-of-Summer event for all of us at the Sailing Club north of town on 43.  This will be on August 24th.  Keep your eye out for details and directions.

On August 25th, I will be giving our beginning-of-the-church-year "State of UUCT" talk during our service.  This was not my idea!   This is a UUCB tradition that we have adapted, and it serves an important purpose:  assessing where we are with respect our finances, our building, our partnership with UUCB, and our membership, and discussing our hopes, dreams, and concrete action plans for the coming year.   I am asking each Pillar Liaison and Pillar Leader (for Welcoming Community, Action for a Better World, Building and Operations, and Worship) to provide me with ONE BIG IDEA for the coming year that I can promote.  But even if you're currently not part of one of these teams/Pillars----and you are ALWAYS invited to become part of them----I am interested in your personal ideas about the church for  the coming year, so reach out to me.

With respect and appreciation,
Steve B.
