Hello from RE Debbie!

Hello, UUCT Members and Friends. Debbie Carden has been working with the UU program for two months now and she wanted to let the congregation and wider community know a bit more about what we do back in Religious Education. She has a curriculum that comes to her from Birmingham UU Church (UUCB) that she uses.

Each week we do our own joys and concerns (with electric tea lights); read and discuss a book dealing with our topic; and do an activity or two (sometimes it’s an art activity, sometimes a game, sometimes a scavenger hunt, etc); and sometimes we have a small snack, if we have some extra time or the children are hungry. :)

We would love to have some of you join us and see what RE is all about and also let you get to know our amazing children a little bit better. Many of you have already submitted fingerprints for a background check but if you haven’t and would like to, please let Debbie know.

From June 30 through the end of July, the children’s religious education program will be talking about the

shared Unitarian Universalist value of Interdependence, we honor the interdependent web of all existence and acknowledge our place in it.  We will use the word interdependence and talk about how people work together. We will learn about being in a community and we will discuss how to take care of each other and our earth. We will do several group activities and will share some with the congregation.

If anyone ever has any questions or concerns about RE, please don’t hesitate to ask Debbie. She can be reached at 205-310-2102 or zacsmomdeb@yahoo.com
