UUCT BOARD OF TRUSTEES PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE; AUGUST 2024

Hello Members and Friends: As those of you with young people in your life (personally or professionally) know, it's Back-to-School time.   We are so grateful to Debbie Carden, Bobby Freeman, and everyone else who planned and attended our Back-to-School bash last week.  We are hoping this will be another UUCT annual tradition. Back-to-School at UA (and Shelton, and Stillman) could well bring more visitors to our doors.  Our congregation's friendliness and openness to new folks (without being smothering or intimidating)_is the reason we've had a record number of new members (certainly percentage-wise, if not in numbers) sign our membership book over the last year.   And our Greeters,  literally the first glimpse of our congregation that our visitors get, are a MAJOR  major part of that effort.  Keep doing what you are doing, and we will keep growing! Because many of us (including Mother Nature) can't quite let go of Summer yet, Ana Schuber has planned an end-of-Summer eve

We also encourage you to label your dish if it contains common allergens like nuts, dairy, or gluten, so that everyone can enjoy the meal with peace of mind. Paperless and Proud: UUCT’s Digital Order of Service

At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Tuscaloosa (UUCT), we believe that living our values is about more than just words—it’s about action. One of our core principles is a commitment to the environment, and we’re always looking for ways to put that commitment into practice.  Starting this week, you can find the full Order of Service conveniently posted on our website . Going Green: A Paperless Order of Service In an effort to reduce our environmental impact, we’ve decided to move away from printed Orders of Service. Instead, you can now access all the details of our worship services directly from our website . This digital shift not only saves paper but also aligns with our broader mission to be responsible stewards of the Earth. By eliminating the need for printed materials, we’re taking a significant step toward reducing our carbon footprint. It’s a small change that collectively makes a big difference, reflecting our congregation’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. A QR
